If you arrive at Las Américas International Airport and head toward Las Terrenas by private vehicle, the journey is simple and safe if you follow this main route:
From the airport, take the Autopista Las Américas heading northeast toward Santo Domingo. Then connect to the Autopista Juan Pablo II (also known as the Autovía del Nordeste), a fast and well-maintained highway that will take you directly to the Samaná Peninsula (toll road).
Continue on this highway until the exit marked Samaná / Las Terrenas, where you must turn right and join the road that crosses the Atlantic Tourist Boulevard. This route is scenic, with gentle curves and spectacular views.
As you approach Las Terrenas, the first landmark you will encounter is the Mirador, a characteristic stone lookout point from which you may spot whales during the season and which marks the end of the panoramic route. You should continue along this road without hesitation. After a few minutes driving along the outskirts of town, observing the typical palm houses and spacious lots, you will pass one final curve and arrive at a large blue arch with big freestanding letters on your left.
Take that road, which leads directly to the beach, and follow the coastal road toward Playa Punta Popy. Remember to take Avenida España before reaching the beach and continue to number 26, where Casa Indica is located.
The total journey takes approximately 2 to 2 and a half hours, depending on traffic. It is a well-traveled route, clearly signposted, and suitable for all types of vehicles.

Hi, I'm Chance — doctor by day, host by passion, and a serial convert to anywhere with good water nearby. My wife Stephanie and I split our time between Missouri, Fort Lauderdale, and the Dominican Republic with our blended crew of three kids, and we've poured a lot of love into making each of our homes a place where guests can truly unwind. Off the clock, I'm a former rugby player turned Brazilian jiu-jitsu nerd, and you'll usually find me on the water or at the beach taking in the sunset with the family. Make yourself at home — we're so glad you're here.
